- The VSU golf team beat out 17 other teams to win the Coker College Invitational in Orlando, Fla. on Monday and Tuesday. The team shot four-under-par to beat Florida Southern by one stroke. Josh Tompkins won the individual title, shooting eight-under-par, four better than his next opponent. Bobby Dyer finished 10th. VSU golf is ranked 25th in the nation.

- The VSU men’s cross country team finished fourth and the women’s team finished fifth at the Embry-Riddle Classic which was run Saturday morning in Daytona Beach, Fla. Senior Melissa Daugherty won the women’s race, running a time of 20:08 in the 5K race.

- Football player Sherard Reynolds was named Gulf South Conference special teams Player of the Week. He returned five punts for 168 yards against Arkansas Tech on Saturday.

- The Blazer baseball team began its intrasquad Fall World Series on Tuesday at Billy Grant Field. The Red team defeated the Black team 10-4.
