Chuck Hudson announced his retirement at the end of spring semester 2008. He officially retired on Sept. 1, 2008.
Hudson has worked at VSU for 16 years, beginning as the overseer of the ROTC program in 1992. He worked with the Graduate school thereafter. He worked for the Registrar’s office prior to his retirement for five years.
“Interaction with students, encouraging students and helping with their problems. I also will miss working with my staff and a host of good people at VSU,” Hudson said.
The staff had kind thoughts and memories of what it was like working with him in the office.
“Chuck is one of the most positive people I’ve ever met. When it came to the students, he always strived to help them with their problems. We will miss him dearly,” Carla Coombs, Registrar Office receptionist, said.
“One day I was having trouble with a very rude, demanding student. I went to his office to explain the situation and was very upset. Like always, he explained that it was not my fault or the office’s fault. The student was mad when they came in and it went down hill from there. No matter what, he always made me feel better. He made everyone feel more important. He will be missed,” said Cassy Goodwin of the Registrar Office.
“Chuck was more than just a boss; he was my mentor, my coach, and my friend. He taught me what real leadership was. He was strong, compassionate, and the ultimate professional. He treated everyone the same,” Stanley Jones, Interim Registrar, said.
