VSU’s newest dining facility, Hopper Dining Center, opened Monday afternoon. Since it opened so recently we thought it would be the best place for our next review.

Hopper Dining Center operates a lot like Palms Dining Center. When you enter the building you pay for your meal before you are allowed to get any food. The meals are $7 no matter what time of the day you decide to eat. Seven dollars may seem expensive, but the restaurant is buffet style so you can get as much food as you want.

The interior is very modern. The color scheme includes greens, oranges, and browns which make the atmosphere relaxing. You can also choose between sitting in a booth or a chair. The tables are only designed to hold up to four people, but if you move chairs around you can always squeeze more people in.

Different dining stations are positioned around the restaurant so you can pick and choose which foods you would like to try. The different stations include: traditional home-style entree, vegetarian entree, pizza and pasta, made-to-order salads, Mongolian wok, and grill, and they also have a desert station.
We really liked the made-to-order salad station. You can pick your own type of lettuce, toppings and dressing and then they mix everything together for you.    There are a lot of drink choices.         McKaylee was impresses that they offered Coke Zero which is her favorite and is not offered at many restaurants.

Even though there were a lot of different varieties of food, some of the food was not great. The dinner rolls tastes a little like Play-doh.

As a warning, the nutrition facts were posted for the desserts, so if you don’t like to know how many calories your favorite dessert contains, do not look. They also post the nutrition facts for the other food items they cook.

Overall the Hopper Dining Center is a good place to eat on campus and we are giving it three stars.
