Unrealistic views of Obama from all over the compass

Some of you may have noticed that we now have a new president running our country. Yep, after two months of waiting, Barack Obama has finally been sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. A big moment for the country, sure, but after the enthusiasm from celebrating faded and the rush of relief from when he made it into the White House safe and sound ran its course, I realized that the only thing that had changed on Tuesday was the presidency.
Now don’t get me wrong Blazers, I didn’t expect all of America’s problems to disappear in a day. On the contrary, I’m annoyed that there are people in this country who do believe in such fantasies. You see, Americans have proven time and again that we are prone to hero worship. Now that their archenemy and stomping bag has left for the familiar arms of Texas, Obama supporters are now putting the new president on a pedestal so high that not even he, himself, can reach it. In fact, I dare say he can’t even see it, considering that the oval office is in the White House on planet Earth and not in the Justice League Headquarters in outer space, as few might have you believe.
President Obama is just one man folks. Granted, he is one man in a position of great power, but there are limitations on how he can use it. I have no doubt that he will do everything he can to get the economy back on track, but I expect that it’s going to take some time. And by some time, I mean much longer than one week. He has to work along side with Congress, after all, which spent more time arguing about whether or not we were on the verge of economic hardship than actually figuring out how to prevent it from happening. It took years of greed and negligence from various corporations to dig this hole. I can only assume that the recovery process is going to take awhile and nothing less than magic will change that.
But the long road to recovery actually brings me to the next group I can not stand: the die hard Bush/McCain supporters. Now that these Americans no longer have to make excuses for ex-President Bush, they are free to bash President Obama for any reason they can imagine. And bash they shall. This is only fair, I suppose, seeing as the Obama supporters did the same exact thing when they were in the conserviatives present position. So, like the annoying kid in the backseat, Republicans are going to constantly point out to everyone in the car that we are not there yet while, at the same time, putting all blame on the man behind the wheel. The major difference between the two is, of course, that no amount of “I Spy” can put an end to this constant prodding. Believe me, I’ve tried.
While the leader of America changes, the country’s citizens remain the same. One group defends the President as if he is the lone savior of the free world, while another group attacks the President like he will bring about the destruction of the country. The truth is that both sides are wrong, and the sooner they realize that the sooner we can focus on more important matters.
Like what kind of puppy the Obama family should get. I’m voting to put a sheltie puppy in the White House. Whose with me?
