The Lady Blazers are still going strong with a 43-6 season stats so far. Their next game will be Saturday, April 18 at West Alabama. This year the girls’ season started off really well. The season took off with a boom with 6 games in a row our lady blazers took the lead. The last tournament the lady blazer played in was the GSC Crossover which the lady blazers took all finishing 7-0. Valdosta State’s Brianna Collis was named Pitcher of the Week for the East Division by the Gulf South Conference this past week.
Here are some of the latest stats taken from the girl games in the past few weeks. Lady Blazers used a record breaking homerun from Marti Littlefield and great pitching from the Holly Satterfield/Brianna Collis duo to take down North Alabama, 7-2, and 2-0.These games were played on April the 10th, 2009. Valdosta played Alabama-Huntsville on last Saturday April 11, 2009 and they had the crowd amazed. These two teams showed how they can be one of the top teams in nation. The first game VSU took all with a score of 4-2, and the second game Alabama-Huntsville took the lead with a score of 9-4. In Pensacola, Fla. Our Lady Blazers played the most recent games. These games were held on April 14, 2009 against West-Florida. These games were very interesting has people would say. Each game took one homerun from two players to take all. Andi Braswell and Alyssa Shirey each hit game-winning home runs to claim matching 1-0 victories for these two games.
The lady blazers still have about 9 games to go. So when you see them on campus wish them around campus wish them good luck. This will keep their spirits up and lead them on to other wins. The next game will be held on April 18, 2009. Valdosta State will look to continue the team’s strong play Saturday at 12 p.m. against West Alabama. Both teams split in their last meeting in Valdosta. So if you not doing anything go check out our Lady Blazers at their next home game.
