When it comes to males and females in college, females out- number males by a huge amount according to an Ohio State Research article.
According to the article, in 2004, females received 58 percent of all bachelor’s degrees in the United States. In 1960, females received only 35 percent.
Why?
There are many reasons this could be true. It could be because males outnumber females overseas in the military. It could be the fact that many males go straight to work after high school?
My opinion?
I believe that a majority of guys are too busy thinking about sex and partying than studying and doing school work.
Wait, wait, not all guys are like that, but think about the college guys you know.
They like to go out, party, dance, head to the bar, do a keg stand and take a cute little girl back to their crib for the night or at least for the next few hours.
Then they wake up, look at the time on their cell phone and see that they’ve already slept through the majority of classes.
The Association of American Publishers held a study of four-year and two-year students where they found that in comparison, men party 20 percent more than females.
See how sex and partying can affect your college education?
Granted, girls are not innocent in the partying and sex, but apparently it’s not hurting their academic career. Girls seem to be more dedicated to their school work. If they get drunk and party the night before, they are more likely to wake up and get to class, whether it’s on time or a few minutes late.
I have no evidence that this is the exact reason for the decline of male college students and the decline of their grades, but I’m sure it’s a factor.
Face it: men think about sex much more than women.
According to the Kinsey Institute, 54 percent of men think about sex everyday or several times a day, compared to 19 percent of women.
The Kinsey Institute also conducted a study of undergraduate college students in which men reported masturbating an average of 12 times per month, while women reported an average of 4.7 times per month.
That means men masturbate nearly three times as much as women.
If male undergraduate students were spending that extra time focusing on their grades or even a post- secondary education, they might actually graduate from college.
