VSU students voiced their opinions Thursday, April 23 to elect the new SGA president for the 2009-2010 school year.
Kelli Cody won the election with 322 votes over Ernesto Prencke’s 272 votes.
Cody, a sophomore environmental geoscience major from Woodstock, Ga., found out she won just like any other student – by walking to the Dean of Students office to find out if she won.
“They had posted the results on the front office doors,” Cody said. “I was very excited when I first found out that I won and very relieved it was finally all over.”
To celebrate her win, Cody went to Savannah with her best friend.
“We had a nice break from school and campaigning,” she said.
Her first act of business as President will be to work with the other executive board members and get things organized for next year.
“We have a lot of plans for next year to discuss and start planning,” Cody said. “We need to get the basics in order before we can really start making some changes.”
