Students in Free Enterprise have spent their entire allocated budget on helping the community and VSU.
Their annual report includes amounts of money that was collected from different sources. The allocated total from student activities was $12,000 with no rollover.
According to Fletcher Ogletree, president of SIFE, they always start out with a balance of zero.
“The student activity fees help SIFE students with regional competitions through the year and help funds programs,” Ogletree said.
“We don’t use student activity fees towards travel,” Ogletree said.
SIFE’s revenues report that $63,925 was their total combined budget. The breakdown shows that $7,825 was collected from donations, $5,000 in prize money, $8,100 from fundraisers and $31,000 in grants.
Out of SIFE’s total budget $42,440 was spent on programs, $300 was spent on equipment and $21,185 was spent on travel.
This year, SIFE has completed 45 projects and has volunteered over 10,000 hours in service.
SIFE’s programs included helping women in Kenya, Ora Lee West youth, Elmo loves the Earth and an entire list of community service projects.
Ogletree also explained that they do not charge their members for shirts; they earn them.
“SIFE members have to give at least a total of 20 hours towards programs to get a t-shirt,” said Ogletree.
Copies of SIFE’s annual report can be found at North Campus around Pound Hall.
