Blazers burn the Bees 13-5 at Billy Grant Field

VSU Blazers scorched the SCAD Bee’s 13-5 during Wednesday afternoon’s game at Billy-Grant Field. Blazers were first to score in the bottom of the second inning when Jon Koenigsfeld, shortstop, hit a single, and Sho Kohata, second basemen, followed suit. Then Brandon Decker hit down the line to bring in Koenigsfeld and Kohata, making the score 2-0. SCAD answered back in the top of the forth with one run still trailing 2-1. In the fifth inning Decker hit his 17th home run of the season bring in three runs,  advancing the score 5-1. Both Blain Wilson and Matt Costello added two more homeruns to the count. Wilson hit is 11th of the season in the sixth and Costello is 10th in the seventh. Blazers were able to defeat the Bees with the help of Logan Pierce who went 2-5.
Pierce is the third and most recent VSU Baseball player to be named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.  Pierce earned the honors by batting an astounding .714 over the last week and hitting two homeruns.  Pierce is now hitting .329 on the season with 22 RBI’s and 27 runs scored.
