A new semester starts and some students begin to think, I need a job! Have no fear, I am here to give you some open positions and career advice every issue for those eager students ready to gain a career.
This week, Career Services has a few jobs available that may interest some students and even graduates.
Anyone majoring in Art or Marketing should look into applying to be an Assistant Event Coordinator. The job pays $12 per hour, and applicants should be responsible and have an interest in learning about Marketing and Communications. Details of this position include helping coordinate various promotional events around the local Valdosta area. If you feel you have that assisting talent going on for organizing events, you may want to apply for this one.
All majors are wanted for four new positions as a QA Tester. Skills needed to qualify for the position include the ability to write test plans and execute test cases. The job is scheduled to be on a 12-month contract but full- time positions will be offered to the right candidates. QA Testers will work in the Valdosta area in a business casual environment. Those who like to dress comfortably and know their technology should knock down the doors of Career Services with their résumés.
Accounting and Finance graduates who are wandering around the campus of VSU trying to decide if they want to go to grad school may have an opportunity in Tifton as an Assistant Financial Examiner. The job is full-time and offers a starting salary of $32,530.59. Performance requirements include reviewing the activity of bank and credit unions to ensure the compliance with laws and regulations, as well as evaluating the bank’s internal and external audit procedures.
Before you catch a case of wandering around campus hopelessly or making that dreaded call to your parents to ask for more funds, you should visit Career Services on the 2nd floor of Powell Hall West or visit their website at http://www.valdosta.edu/career/ to apply for any of these positions and many other job opportunities.
Students who want to get ahead of the gang by interning or soon to be graduates looking for jobs in their major before that long awaited walk across the stage should register online at www.collegecentral.com/valdosta to view open positions.
Don’t forget: impress with your dress and you can’t get fired unless you’re hired.
