VALDOSTA, Ga. – For the second straight week a Valdosta State Blazer has been named the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week as Tristan Crawford earned the honor on Wednesday.

Crawford averaged 18.0 points and 8.7 rebounds while leading VSU to three victories last week. He stared the week with 24 points and 13 rebounds against Fort Valley State on Tuesday, just the fourth double-double of his career. The 24 points was just one shy of his career high while the 13 rebounds marked a new personal-best for the senior.

Crawford followed the double-double with 15 points and eight rebounds against Clayton State and 15 points and five rebounds against Georgia Southwestern. He shot 50.0 percent from the floor on the week while also hitting 13-of-15 free throws, an 86.7 success rate. He also dished out two assists and blocked two shots while recording three steals on the week.

Crawford’s recognition came one week after Tyrone Curnell earned his fourth career GSC weekly honor.

The third-ranked Blazers return to action Friday, December 4 when they host the Loop Pizza Grill Classic in the P.E. Complex. West Florida and Palm Beach Atlantic open the event at 6:00 p.m. while Valdosta State and Saint Leo play at 8:00 p.m.
