Decker drafted by Angels in 27th round

VALDOSTA- VSU slugger Brandon Decker was drafted on Tuesday afternoon in the 27th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The two time first-team All-American selection led Valdosta State with 21 homeruns and 79 RBI’s in 2010 while posting a .426 batting average in 58 games for the Gulf South Conference champions.

Decker will join former VSU pitcher Jason Bulger in the Angels organization. Bulger is a 2000 graduate of the Blazers program and is currently on the Angels MLB roster.

Decker joins South Georgia resident and the Gatorade National Player of the Year, Kaleb Cowart of Cook High School, in the Angels organization. Cowart was drafted 17th overall in this years draft.
