VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State’s Daniel Andersen earned his first career Gulf South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week award Monday after leading VSU to a 25-22 victory over Wingate on Saturday.

Andersen propelled the Blazers to victory as he kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired for the deciding points. The 42-yard try was the second-longest successful attempt of his young career.

Andersen finished the game with three made field goals, on four attempts, and was also successful on both of his extra point tries. He scored all nine VSU points during the second half of play as he kicked a 32-yard field goal in the third quarter and added a 20-yard attempt in the fourth quarter.
