Moving for Music! 5K Race and Fun Run held Saturday

Advertisements are buzzing about the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra’s (VSO) event “Moving for Music,” a 5K run and Fun Run, set for Saturday on the Front Lawn.

The third annual “Moving for Music,” consists of a 5K race and a Fun Run, where participants who cannot run the 5K can still partake in a one-mile run.

Registration for this event begins at 7 a.m. on the Front Lawn. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run begins at 9 a.m.

The entry fee for VSU students is $15, but $25 for everyone on race day.

All runners are encouraged to arrive to the race early to allow time for each runner to get a number and receive their special t-shirt, which will be handed out starting at 7 a.m.

Friends can come together and enter as a group, which must consist of at least eight people.
The group with the most participants will win a prize.

To make the run even more entertaining, there will be music played throughout the race to challenge runners to complete the race before the music stops.

“Finish Before the Music Ends!” will include a 28 min. musical piece playing throughout the 5K, in which runners will have to get to the finish line before the music ends.

A 15 min. piece will be playing throughout the Fun Run challenge, in which attendees will be able to achieve an award that says, “I Beat the Music!”

All money raised will go towards VSO students’ scholarships.
