The Lady Blazers will take on Middle Georgia College for the first game of the season and the first home opener for soccer.
As our Blazers finished with an 8-6-4 record, they are ready to start this season strong and take advantage of the 0-2 College team. As their opponents, the Middle Georgia Knights has yet to begin its season the right way; they have allowed over ten goals to be scored defensively, with offensively only scoring one point in the past two games.
After last season, the Knights lost a lot of their top players, which put them in a situation where they had to see who would step up to be a leader for their team; they have yet to get their person.
Sunaina Chaigneau, a previous junior, looked to be one of the few backbones on the Middle Georgia team, starting 34 out of the 36 games; she was the team’s top scoring player with ten goals and two assists. Without Chaigneau, the team has yet to find a player that stands out.
Middle Georgia will need help finding those team players. Either way, for the Lady Blazers, the outlook is to hope to see an even better season from 2024 to 2025. With many of our top starters returning, like Ana Moleka and Molly Wooldridge , there should be no setback coming into this game. With Moleka and Wooldridge being the top scorers of the last season, each with seven goals, the Blazers have the weapons they need.
As for the expectations for this week, the Lady blazers can take care of business and show off their skills. Since this is the first home game of the year for the Lady blazers, they can set a strong tone for the season as they take on Middle Georgia College this week, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m.
