“Pretty Little Liars: Summer School” season two was a harrowing experience compared to the previous season and the original “Pretty Little Liars” television series.
The Max drama series follows the events after “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” with new characters having to face a fate worse than death- summer school. Although this new plot may not be the one the audience is used to, it continued to bring us an interesting villain and steamy romances.
The cast includes Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles and Maia Reficco as the next generation of Pretty Little Liars.
Before the new season was released, a special opportunity was given to receive a preview and see the spoilers of what was to come for the new season.
In season one, there were many unanswered questions, mostly about the villain “A” and whose identity is actually behind the mysterious figure who stalked and threatened the characters.
Season two dives deeper into just exactly who this villain is and how they are connected to the lives of the parents of the pretty little liars.
For episodes 1-5, the plot starts off with the “liars” still dealing with the traumatic events that happened in the previous season caused by the villain “A.”
With Imogen (Bailee Madison) still investigating her mother’s death, Faran (Zaria) uncovering truths about their parents’ past, Noa (Maia Reficco) coming out from juvenile detention, Tabby (Chandler Kinney) coping and acknowledging the trauma from her assault and Mouse (Malia Plyes) dealing with her overprotective and overbearing mother.
In the preview, the main spoiler expected to have the audience on the edge of their seats was the return of Dr. Anne Sullivan, played by Annabeth Gish. Dr. Sullivan was the therapist for the past “liars”- Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily. As their therapist, she played a crucial role in uncovering the many layers of the villain “A.”
Gish also revised her therapist role in the previous spin of series, “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” but with a darker side.
Many other spoilers consist of Noa having to run barefoot on a path of thorny roses while being chased by a dog after being led by “A,” Faran learning that Henry is in a cult and Imogen obsessively watching over the child she gave up.
While the characters of the show seem to go through traumatic and unsettling events in their daily lives, the cast seems to enjoy bringing the excitement to life.
Bailee Madison, who is reprising her role of Imogen, expressed her excitement of exploring the horror genre more deeply while making sure her character can be someone that the audience could view as relatable.
“That was something that I don’t think I’ve seen on TV before, a chance to actually go into the horror and permanent damage that’s done to her (Imogen) mind, and I think it showcases Imogen’s inner workings in such a beautiful light,” said Madison to TellTaleTv.
Now that season two of summer school is over, fans will most likely have to wait until 2025 to see the continuation of this mysterious drama. If lucky, there will be another chance to sneak a peak of the many future plot twists.
