Welcome back to another edition of Cherie’s Picks! I am so glad you decided to drop in. As usual, I have a list of upcoming events on campus with organizations that would love for you to accompany them! Without further ado, here are the events for the week of Sept. 9.
To start the week off, on Monday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Counseling Center is hosting “Mental Health Monday” in the Student Union on the 2nd floor Display C. They invite you to come out to learn ways to enhance your wellbeing. Topics will range from test anxiety to self-care with your mental health being a top priority.
Also on Monday, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., the Counseling Center will be holding their “Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) Interest Meeting” in Odum Library meeting room 1480. The CRC was formed to provide a safe, empowering space for students in recovery, students looking to change their relationship with substances and students interested in success throughout the community. If you are looking to find a respectful, supportive group interested in your success, be sure to stop by.
Skipping on to Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. until 7:45 p.m., the Animal Science Club is hosting an “VMCAS Application” event in Bailey Science Center room 1025. This event is for anyone interested or on the pre-vet track. Here you can plan to learn about the application process while hanging out and getting any questions answered.
On Thursday, Sept. 12 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. the Coram Deo Christian Fellowship is hosting a “Fellowship Gathering” in the Student Union on the 2nd floor meeting room 3 & 4. This is typically hosted every week and is a time for fellowship with one another. Try to attend sometime and potentially become a member!
A change of pace for Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8:08 a.m. until 4:09 p.m. on Wacissa River, Campus Recreation is hosting “Paddle and Snorkel”. Just as it is titled, Campus Recreation invites you to come out and enjoy this day trip of learning the basics of kayaking and snorkeling. Whether you plan to jump into the water or prefer to watch, there is much to see and experience here!
Last but certainly not least, Saturday Sept. 14 is game day! At Bazemore-Hyder Stadium with doors opening at 5:15 p.m. and game time set for 7 p.m., come out to cheer on “VSU Football vs. Fayetteville State.” Show your school pride and love for the Blazers by attending!
This brings us to the end of this week. I hope you enjoyed it and perhaps have the chance to stop by one of these events. Be sure to stop by Cherie’s Corner each Saturday to explore the upcoming events on campus. Thank you for checking out Cherie’s Picks, and I’ll see you next week!
