Cherie’s Picks Week of 09/23

Welcome back to another edition of Cherie’s Picks! I am so glad you decided to drop in. As usual, I have a list of upcoming events on campus with organizations that would love for you to accompany them! Without further ado, here are the events for the week of Sept. 23.

To start the week off, on Monday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Counseling Center is hosting “Mental Health Monday” in the Student Union Display C on the 2nd floor. They are inviting us all to get involved in ways to enhance our wellbeing. We can plan to hear and participate in conversations on various topics from self-care to school related anxieties.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., the Office of Student Success and Retention will be hosting “Blaze, the Builder” in Odum Library room 2633. This workshop will become part of their Workshop Series to help students throughout their career here at VSU. Discussion and guidance through online programs, study techniques and digital programs will be the focus of the event.

Now on to Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Campus Activities Board is hosting a “Paint N’ Sip” in the Student Union meeting room 1. With the addition of complimentary mock tails, you have the opportunity to paint tote bags or canvases. Their Paint N’ Sip events are always lots of fun and a great way to decompress during the school week.

On Thursday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., the African Students Association is hosting a “Family Feud” in Bailey Science Center room 1011. Just as the game show itself, their Family Feud event will be hosted in the same fashion. Come out for a fun, competitive time or a good watch.

On Friday, Sept. 27 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. the Replenished Women group is hosting a “Pinevale Community Service” event at Pinevale Elementary School. This event will provide three service hours for gathering to read to the students at Pinevale Elementary.

And just like that, the week comes to an end. I hope you enjoyed it and perhaps have the chance to stop by one of these events. Be sure to stop by Cherie’s Corner each Saturday to explore the upcoming events on campus. Thank you for checking out Cherie’s Picks, and I’ll see you next week!
