Cherie’s Picks Week of 10/21

Welcome back to another edition of Cherie’s Picks! Long time no see, but I am so glad you decided to drop in. As usual, I have a list of upcoming events on campus with organizations that would love for you to accompany them! Without further ado, here are the events for the week of Oct. 21.

To start the week off, on Monday, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Counseling Center is hosting “Mental Health Monday” in Student Union Display C 2nd floor. As usual, they plan to discuss many topics regarding mental health. They encourage us all to attend if possible and enjoy a mental health reset.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., VSU-SHRM will be holding a workshop “SHRM Meeting #4 – Resume Review and Mock Interviews” in the Education Center room 1140. They plan to use this workshop to help students create effective resumes as well as participating in mock interviews. This opportunity will allow for immediate feedback and enhance knowledge for use.

Now on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., CAB is presenting “CAB Cinemas” on the Front Lawn. If you have not yet seen “A Quiet Place Day 1” or you have and just want to rewatch, come out to watch the movie on the lawn. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and be prepared for a fun film with your fellow Blazers.

On Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., Centennial Hall is hosting “Games & Grub” on Centennial Courtyard. Centennial residents as well as their RAs will be competing in various games like spades, UNO, etc. They have included that all are welcome, so whether you would like to try your hand at the games or just watch, be sure to catch this event.

Free Saturday, Oct. 26? From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Phi Mu is hosting “Phi Mu Pickleball Tournament” at McKey Park Pickleball Courts. The prices are as follows: a team of two $50 or single $25. With all proceeds going to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, this will also be potentially worth five hours of community service. Phi Mu is hoping their fellow Blazers can help them make a difference while also having a good time playing pickleball.

This brings us to the end of this week. It is so nice seeing everyone back on campus! I hope you have the opportunity to stop by any of these and I hope you enjoyed this week’s addition. Be sure to stop by Cherie’s Corner each Saturday to explore the upcoming events on campus. Thank you for checking out Cherie’s Picks, and I’ll see you next week!
