Advertising Rates
The Spectator is distributed free every Thursday morning during the academic year at over 50 high-traffic locations in Valdosta. Additionally, the Spectator distributes a special edition four times during the summer to incoming freshmen and their parents attending orientation sessions.

The deadline for all Spectator advertising is 5 p.m. the Monday before Thursday publication. Advertising cancelled after deadline is subject to a 50 percent charge. All advertising received by deadline will be proofed, and the Spectator may not be held responsible for errors.

The Spectator is served by advertising representatives who act as a liaison between the newspaper and our clients. We want your business to succeed. We encourage ad reps to take an interest in their clients’ businesses so that they can better help clients reach their markets. If you feel that the ad rep the Spectator has assigned to you has performed unsatisfactorily in any way, please call the Spectator’s advertising manager.
All new accounts will be required to pay at the time the advertisement is placed until credit is established. New businesses usually require one year of operation before credit is extended. Accounts that are more than sixty (60) days overdue will not be allowed to advertise further until their debt is paid in full. Credit will have to be re-established on a new-account basis.

The Spectator publishes a number of special edition tabloids, such as a Back-to-School and Spring Break issue. To facilitate modular ad layout, the Spectator accepts ads by modular size only. The rates for tabloid issues differ from the broadsheet:

Classified Ads
The Spectator classifieds are one of the most effective ways to reach VSU students. The Spectator offers free classifieds to the students of Valdosta State University, up to 40 words. Faculty, staff, and businesses (including student-owned) and the public pay $8.00 per ad, up to 40 words. There is an additional charge of $1.10 for every additional 10 words (or part thereof).

Discount Definition
Camera-Ready Discount: 2.5%
The Spectator offers a 2.5% discount for camera-ready advertisements, ads which are completely finished and formatted to the exact size of the ad space purchased. Camera-ready ads should be produced at 95 lines per inch or fewer and resolutions of 300 to 1200 dots per inch for best results. Camera-ready ads are kept on file for one year and then archived for one year before destruction. You may provide postage or other means for return of your advertisement.
The Spectator offers a 10% discount to VSU offices, departments, and groups. Fraternal, religious, or academic groups, interdepartmental offices, faculty groups, and others are eligible for this discount.
Size-Incentive Discount: 10% – 20%
The Spectator offers a 10%-20% discount according to the size of the ad. The open rate is $7.60 per column inch.

The Spectator offers a 10% discount to those clients who have established credit but who pay for an advertisement when it it is placed. The Spectator offers a combined discount. All advertisers are invited to take full advantage of all the discounts that apply. Advertisers of all categories may combine any of the above discounts to achieve the best possible savings, up to 25%.
