Policy Changed: VSU reveals new free expression rule; FIRE backs off

VSU President Dr. Patrick Schloss signed a new General Public Forum Venue policy on Sept. 11, changing VSU’s free expression on campus.

In a letter to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), Schloss announced that a new General Public Forum Venue policy replaced the old Free Expression Area policy. The new policy dramatically increases the amount of time allowed for use of the school’s free speech expression area on campus for public debate.



Former Blazer Shot

According to ESPN.com, early Tuesday morning former VSU Blazer, and current Jacksonville Jaguar, Richard Collier, was shot in his car while waiting outside an apartment complex in Jacksonville, Fla. As of the latest report, Collier is in critical condition at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

If being named 2008 Gulf South Conference Champions is not enough for you, well then you would be the VSU tennis team. What both teams, men’s and women’s, have done this year alone is remarkable: GSC Champions, seven GSC All-Conference team nominees, and a back to back Coach of the Year awards. The funny thing about all this is that no one seems to notice. VSU tennis is arguably the best athletic team on campus, and that includes the men and the women.
