Vice President, Kamala Harris, announced a bus tour through southeast GA on Aug. 28, alongside Minnesota Gov, Tim Walz.
They have not announced the travel stops, but there is wide speculation that Harris will make way through Valdosta, GA. She will be meeting supporters, voters and small business owners throughout her tour.
Harris settled in Savannah on Wednesday at 3:30 PM. She and Walz first greeted students from Savannah State University, and then traveled west to Hinesville. She then met with students during a high school band practice.
According to NPR, the room erupted when Harris and Walz walked in, and the band played the school fight song.
She is on the mission to gain traction in rural GA to sway voters in her direction.
GA is currently a swing state, so presidential candidates are targeting smaller towns in order to gain a bigger impact.
According to Savannah Morning News, more than 35,000 Georgians have volunteered for the Harris campaign since she launched her bid after Biden dropped out of the race on July 21.
