The Valdosta State athletic department is set to introduce the newest coach to VSU today in a press conference at 11 a.m.
Athletic Director Herb Reinhard has made his decision on who will be the first ever coach of the newly added women’s soccer team, which is set to begin play in 2011.
The process has been a long one, though Reinhard has led the way as he expects nothing but the best from the new coach.
“We want someone with solid experience at a high level of soccer,” Reinhard said. “Since it is a brand new program, we want candidate’s that have experience building a program.”
Just like the current teams at VSU are held to high standards, Reinhard assures Blazer fans that the soccer team will be no different.
“It is a brand new program, so we are not going to jump out of the gate and win a national championship,” Reinhard said. “We are looking for a program that jumps out to a solid start. Ultimately, we want a team that competes at a high level in the conference and region. Once we do that we will be competing ultimately at a national level.”
Reinhard asserts that there were many good candidates interested in the position here at VSU.
There will be a press conference at 11 a.m. today, so for information on the new Women’s Soccer head coach check online at http://www.vsuspectator.com/.
