‘Deaf World’ alerts to daily struggles

Friday, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at VSU will host the “Deaf, Deaf World” event in the Student Union Ballrooms B and C. Two sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The object of the event is to raise awareness of the difficulty those who are deaf or hard of hearing face from day-to-day.

As such, the moment people enter the ballroom, they must attempt to communicate without their voice. The audience member to best communicate without his or her voice has a chance to win a prize.

“At the end of each session we will have a panel discussion of Deaf and Hard of Hearing community members where they will be answering your questions,” the official announcement said.

For any questions, students, faculty and staff may contact Erin Salmon, coordinator for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at epsalmon@valdosta.edu.
