Kerwin Bell has had a less than ideal start to his sophomore season as head coach. The Blazers are on the verge of starting the season 0-3 for the first time in over 10 years.

Bell confident in his team’s abilities

Despite being 0-2 on the season, head coach Kerwin Bell is confident that VSU Football will win their first game on Saturday.

“We have to make sure we go in with the attitude we had last week,” Bell said. “This is our back against the wall mentality, we have to play with great passion and the grip that I love.’

Last Game, quarterback Rogan Wells had an injury to his shoulder. Wells will not be playing the next game, according to Bell. Adam Robles and Max Hughes are the two quarterbacks that will be on the depth chart.

“Adam is getting all the reps in right now and [Max] had a great practice yesterday and is looking really good,” Bell said. “I feel good about those two right now.”

Last season the West Florida Argonauts went 5-6 with an average of 35.5 points per game. The Argonauts are currently 2-0, but Coach Bell is looking to play to the Blazer’s strengths.

“We are going to try and fit the game plan for this week to what Adam’s strengths are, what he does very well, go in there, and try to play a very good football game.”

Hopeful that the Blazers will pull through this Saturday, Coach Bell sees talent and passion in the team. Grit is what kept the blazers in the game against the No. 10 team in the nation. That is what Bell is looking for.

“Keep battling, keep grinding; even when things are tough,” Bell said “Play the next play, like it’s your last game. If we keep showing that we’ll keep getting better.”

The Blazers will face the Argos in Pensacola, Florida on Saturday at 7 p.m.
