VSU Homecoming has come and gone, and with its Mardi Gras theme and action-packed week, there’s a lot of events to cover.

The night of Sunday, Oct. 15 was Midnight Madness, the inaugural event. Guests were treated to games, snacks, and music throughout the night, and it marked the beginning of the chalk art competition between fraternities and organizations across campus, spanning throughout main campus.

Oct. 16 was Fan Fest, where participants could access carnival-style rides, rock climbing, a zip line, and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.

Oct. 17 was Fat Tuesday, where the Student Union became the French Quarter of New Orleans for the night. Guests could participate in casino games such as blackjack, roulette, and dice, and prizes such as a PlayStation 5 and two televisions were awarded to a few lucky winners. There was food as well; gumbo and beignets, and a hurricane mocktail.

Oct. 19 marked the Homecoming pep rally, showcasing all of the sports teams before the football game on the 21st. There were performances from the band, the cheer team, and the Red Hots. It was also where the Homecoming court was chosen for the year.

Oct. 20 started the process for the Homecoming parade, where participants joining the parade got together to work on their respective floats.

Oct. 21 was the Homecoming game, where the football team beat the Shorter Hawks in a 42-14 victory.
