People Poll: Do you feel safe on campus?

After informing students of the crime report last week, we asked them if they felt safe on campus.

“I haven’t encountered any crime or anything to make me feel unsafe,” said Tarvis Holt, a freshman exercise physiology major. “To me the campus, I haven’t seen anything. I feel fine.”

“In general I usually do, but with that news, I didn’t know about that,” said Mackenzie Lasker, a sophomore biology major. “I feel like we should know about these things, like maybe they send an email to us or something.”

“I think I feel safe on campus,” said Aleah Parson, a junior history major. “That’s terrible that happened to her. There was also an armed robbery last year, too. I feel like these things are rare.”

“I would say for the most part the campus is safe,” Kevin Andre, a senior biology major said. “The system is perfect but it can’t be truly perfect; there’s always gonna be an error but at the same time there’s always gonna be something that’s going on that, you know, we can’t always catch every detail.”

“I mean at night, I’ll be on the phone with my mom if no one’s with me, or I’ll make a point to walk with someone,” said Rachel Dawkins, a junior public relations major. “If I’m by myself I’m scared. I just walk promptly.”
